Nyonya Peranakan cuisine is a mix of Chinese ingredients, spices and cooking methods that used in Malaysia. That means Peranakan cooking is when the dishes influenced by a variety of cultures and it becomes an interpretation of each dish based on preferred flavours and ingredients.
Some of the signature ingredients used in Peranakan cooking include laksa leaves, coconut milk, tamarind and lemongrass. And they’re much more because many different ingredients are used in each dish.
Same goes for Malay food but a little different. Malay food has a strong taste, aromatic and spicy, combining with the rich tastes of many herbs and spices usually found in Southeast Asia.
